Abstract

PALB2 (PArtner and Localiser of BRCA2) has been identified as a low penetrance breast-cancer susceptibility gene (Nat Genet published online Dec 31, 2006; DOI:10.1038/ng1959). “We estimate that faults in the PALB2 gene contribute to around 100 cases of breast cancer in the UK each year”, says lead author Nazneen Rahman (Institute of Cancer Research, Sutton, UK).
