Abstract

This article attempts to analyse Pakistan's relations with India within the context of India's evolving external relations and growing global economic integration. The author highlights the core issues relating to Pakistan's difficult diplomatic relationship with India. Although India appears to have been willing to overcome a pattern of historical animosity towards China, the author suggests that India's relations with Pakistan are unlikely to improve in the long term. The author also suggests that the intractability of the Kashmir issue will stand in the way of any long term improvement in Pakistan's relations with India.
