Abstract

We represent our recent advances on the study of the gap symmetry in UPt3 by thermal conductivity tensors κij (i, j = x, y, z). The field-angle-resolved thermal conductivity κzz shows spontaneous twofold symmetry breaking in the gap function for the high-field C-phase, indicating that the pairing symmetry of UPt3 belongs to an E1u representation in the f-wave category. We also demonstrate that the proposed pairing symmetry is compatible with most of the experimental results reported until now.
