Abstract

Electrosynthesis has shown promising prospect for producing fine chemicals via a green and sustainable way. In recent years, the electrooxidation of renewable biomass 5-hydroxymethylfurfural (HMF) into high value-added product 2, 5-furardicarboxylic acid (FDCA) has become a hot research topic. However, the FDCA yield, and formation rate are difficult to reach high level at the same time. Here, we have designed a paired-electrosynthesis system with a concentration adjustment strategy in to improve the FDCA formation rate while maintaining high FDCA yield. The catalytic performance exceeds most of reported examples from the viewpoint of FDCA yield and formation rate.
