Abstract

The main references and concepts dealing with the subject of particle packing have been presented in Chapters 4 and 5. The vast amount of extant literature on this subject shows the importance of particle packing to ceramists as well as to engineers in many other disciplines. Within the literature, there are two major historical approaches to particle packing. Each starts with one of the following two assumptions: 1. Particles are monodisperse or discrete sizes, or 2. Particles are continuous size distributions.
