Abstract
In a parallel computer system, interconnection network is the central factor for the success and credibility of massively parallel computer (MPC) systems. The overall successes of the MPC system ascertain using number of nodes in its underlying interconnection networks. A Tori-connected flattened butterfly network (TFBN) is one sort of hierarchical interconnection network included many basic modules, where the basic modules are flattened butterfly networks and higher-level modules are torus networks. In this paper, we bring up the architecture of TFBN, determine the packing density of TFBN, and compared with other networks. It is disclosed that the packing density of the TFBN is higher than 2D_Mesh, 2D_Torus, TESH, TTN, and MMN. Thus, TFBN is suitable network for the VLSI realization and it will be a will be a possible choice for the future leading MPC systems.KeywordsHierarchical interconnection networkTFBNHop distance parametersPacking density
