Abstract

Kandri as a tourist village has developed new art products that are used to support tourism promotion. The emergence of new art products is triggered by the need for tourism promotion. Several new dances such as Matirto Suci dewi Kandri dance, Wanara Parisuko dance, Gunungpati market dance have emerged as a complement to ritual ceremonies that were previously routinely carried out every year by the Kandri community. It is the reason that encourages researchers to reveal the existence of art in Kandri which is used as a tourism promotion tool with the aim at knowing more about how dance performance art is packaged there. Researchers collected data using qualitative methods, and ethical and emic approaches were selected to obtain solutions to the problems in this study. The results show that local wisdom possessed by the Kandri community is a cultural tourism asset which is then developed by the Semarang city government through the tourism office for the needs of the tourism industry. This effort was marked by the emergence of several new dances that complemented the existing ritual ceremonies which later became a product of the tourist industry in Kandri. Several new dance appearances are packaged according to tourist needs. Among the features of the packaging of dance performances for tourism purposes: it is made in a short time, the motion is very simple, the time / duration of the show is around 5-10 minutes, it is not sacred, as a complement to ritual ceremonies that have long been held by Kandri residents as part of custom the habit of the Kandri people, the clothes also look simple, There are no perfect demands on the appearance of the dance clothes, if necessary, don't use make-up either. The preparation for the stage does not take a long time, it seems spontaneous. The dance accompaniment does not require using a live gamelan, but can use a recorded accompaniment. It is hoped that the results of this research will be able to inspire other areas that have cultural richness and tourism potential, so that the packaging of performing arts like this can be an option.
