Abstract

Research Article| May 01 2021 “Pacific” Ethno-National Identities: Victims, Persecutors, and the Quest for Identity David García-Ramos Gallego; David García-Ramos Gallego Universidad Católica de Valencia San Vicente Mártir DAVID GARCÍA-RAMOS GALLEGO has a degree in Literary Theory and Comparative Literature and a Master’s degree in Didactics of Spanish as a Foreign Language. He is finishing his doctorate with a research on the ethics of charity based on the contributions of Emmanuel Levinas and René Girard. He has published studies in which he applies mimetic theory to the analysis and interpretation of the theater of Miguel Hernández and Federico García-Lorca, and to the current theater scene in Spain, analyzing the works of Juan Mayorga, Rodrigo García or Angélica Liddell. He has directed the course “The construction of identity in times of crisis. The role of violence and religion” at the UIMP, Valencia (June 24–25, 2015), financed by Imitatio. A book with the same title, coordinated by him and David Atienza, was published in June 2017. He has taught philosophy at the Blessed Diego Luis de San Vitores Philosophical and Theological Institute for Oceania in Guam, USA. He teaches language, literature and theater at the Faculty of Education of the UCV, and “Jewish and Muslim Thought” at the Faculty of Philosophy of the same university. He also teaches as a guest professor at the Studium Theologicum of Galilee, in Korazim, Israel. He is a proud father and a very lucky husband. This same year he moved to Guam, where he has resided since then. David Atienza has taught history, philosophy, anthropology, and applied linguistics at different institutions and universities in Spain and Guam. Dr. Atienza’s research interests and main works are focused on cultural identity processes and historical anthropology. He is also a founder member of the grupo español de investigación sobre la Teoría Mimética de René Girard Xiphias Gladius and a member of COVR. Currently he is an associated professor of Anthropology at the University of Guam.
