Abstract
Morbid obesity remains a strong risk factor limiting cardiac and liver transplantation. Furthermore, studies have demonstrated that morbidly obese transplant recipients have nearly twice the 5-year mortality of normal-weight or overweight recipients, thereby preventing morbidly obese patients from undergoing a heart or liver transplant. We compare the use of AGB as a mode of weight loss for patients considering heart and liver transplant surgery.
