Abstract
Using a room‐temperature dip‐coating technique, we propose a cinnamate‐unit‐phosphonic‐acid‐based surfactant alignment material that can be orientated by linear polarized light. Using the technique, we can treat a substrate simply and quickly, achieving a uniform pretilt angle of approximately 86° with a low dose of polarized UV light. We examined the optical and electrical properties of the alignment material under different conditions, including pretilt angles under different irradiation doses, voltage holding ratio (VHR) and residual direct circuit (RDC) when using different solvents, stability, etc. The results show that the material has acceptable performance. Since the phosphonic acid series photosensitive materials still have much room for optimization, we believe it is a potential new generation of photosensitive surfactant alignment materials.
