Abstract

AbstractA blue phase liquid crystal display (BPLCD) featuring double in‐plane switching (DIPS) electrode structure is proposed. The DIPS electrodes on the top and bottom substrates are arranged in a staggered manner for eliminating dead zones formed above the electrodes. As a result, aperture ratio is remarkably enlarged except for the thin film transistor (TFT) region. At meantime, a low driving voltage (∼18V) and high transmittance (∼90%) BP‐LCD can be achieved.
