Abstract

Recently, PDP manufacturer and research groups are concerning about driving of high Xe panel for efficiency improvements and the gas mixture ratio of PDP discharges plays a very important role in discharge characteristics of an AC PDP cell such as operating voltages, brightness, discharge time lag, and luminous efficiency. In this study, we investigated the influences of gas mixing ratio on the performances of PDP in He-Ne-Xe ternary gas system for wide range of Xe partial pressure in terms of operating voltage, driving margin, luminance, and luminous efficiency. With the experimental results it was concluded that addition of optimum amount of He (around 10%) can greatly improve both luminance and luminous efficiency of high Xe PDP.
