Abstract
While obesity rates continue to rise in Europe, research shows that Czech children aged 13-15 have lower body mass indices (BMIs) than American children of the same age. The goal of this study was to compare BMI, dietary intake, amount and intensity of physical activity, and time spent watching television and using a computer between Czech and U.S. children. Data for this cross-sectional study came from a sample of 31 Czech and 29 American 4th-6th graders. In addition to measured height and weight, subjects provided two 24-hour recalls and a modified 2-day Self-Administered Physical Activity Checklist.
