Abstract

Trauma history is likely related to mental problems, like post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and depression. Neuroimaging studies suggest neurobiological changes in emotion regulation brain regions, i.e., orbital frontal cortex (OFC), after traumatic experience. However, mechanisms of trauma history effects on post-trauma symptoms after acute trauma remain unclear. Therefore, we longitudinally evaluated relationships between preceding trauma history, early post-trauma OFC cortical thickness, and later PTSD and depression severity after acute trauma.
