Abstract

Total motile sperm count (TMSC) is an important factor to consider in couples pursuing in vitro fertilization (IVF). A decrease in sperm motility and thus TMSC over a period of hours may have relevant clinical implications in counseling couples whether to pursue conventional IVF vs. IVF with intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI), especially in patients with TMSC between 10-40 million. The objective of this study was to identify all patients which demonstrated a decrease in sperm motility from 1 hour to 2 hours after collection and evaluate the relationship with multiple seminal parameters.
