Methylphenidate, the first-line treatment for attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), is thought to influence brain networks involved in attention and cognitive control by increasing dopaminergic neurotransmission in the nucleus accumbens (NAc), but this hypothesis has yet to be systematically tested.
