Abstract

Eczema herpeticum (EH) is a significant infectious complication of atopic dermatitis (AD). However, the clinical diagnosis of EH can be challenging as AD exacerbation and bacterial infection may be mistaken for EH. This may impact treatment decision pending herpes simplex virus polymerase chain reaction (PCR) results. In this study, we investigated whether complete blood count (CBC) can distinguish EH from AD patients with bacterial infections or exacerbation.
