Abstract
Transcript levels for markers of the somatostatin (SST) and parvalbumin (PV) subtypes of GABA neurons are lower in the dorsolateral prefrontal cortex (DLPFC) of individuals with schizophrenia. However, it is unclear whether these deficits in transcript levels reflect fewer SST or PV neurons and/or lower expression of each transcript per neuron.
