Abstract

AbstractSerious color shift problem at different grayscales is an intrinsic characteristic in liquid crystal display. It is induced by gamma‐dispersion and hardware limitation of liquid crystal and display structure. The poor color reproduction becomes heavy burden for system maker to achieve high image quality. Many researches have been reported to improve gray level color temperature by color tracking. As we know, keeping small deviation of correlated color temperature (CCT) from white to dark levels doesn't guarantee high quality of color appearance. The variation of chromatic coordinate at different grayscales must be taken into consideration. In this paper we developed a new algorithm to balance these two factors. We called it One Point Color Tracking (OPCT). The performance for different type LCD (TN, IPS, and MVA) is reported.
