Abstract

New type of vacuum switching tubes has been designed in FGUP VEI, which effective used at long pulse duration or in direct current operation mode. Small losses and high efficiency of switching are reached due to careful formation of an electron flow in a beam and electrons deceleration at approach to the anode. This type of tubes was named Electron Beam Valves (EBV). As a result of researches have been designed EBV with total losses at anode and control grid not exceeding 1 -2 % from load power at switching voltage 30 200kV.The most interesting direction of EBV application is power electronic. Power converter now are intensively developed for so-called flexible a.c. transmission lines (FACTS) on the basis of semi-conductor devices. Converters for transmission lines should work at voltage 3511 OkV. In this case, it would be probably effectively to use vacuum switching tubes. In particular, the first results of researches of use EBV in static VAR compensator (SVC) for power industry has been published at IVEC-2009 Conference. The high efficiency of the EBV stimulate the researches of increase efficiency of power amplifier tubes efficiency by electron deceleration on anode.
