Abstract

Regional homogeneity (ReHo) is a local synchronization index computed from brain resting state functional MRI timeseries and has been proposed as a measure of local functional connectivity. ReHo abnormalities are reported in a wide range of neurological and psychiatric disorders. However, ReHo measure is sensitive to local fluctuations in cerebral blood flow (CBF) that is in turn influenced by system-level cerebrovascular health. We hypothesize that ReHo signal may be influenced by CBF in a regionally specific way; and the latter is affected by the global cardiovascular factors.
