Abstract
The tripeptide FEG (Phe-Glu-Gly), derived from the c-terminus of the salivary gland peptide-T (SGP-T), TDFEGG, and its D-isomer feG are potent anti-inflammatory peptides that reduce type1 immediate hypersensitivity reactions such as vascular leak, intestinal motility disturbances, systemic hypotension, airways constriction and hyper-reactivity, and pulmonary inflammation. They also inhibit LPS-induced shock, cerulein-induced pancreatitis, zymosan-induced arthritis and other acute inflammatory responses.
