Abstract

Moral distress (MD) arises where we need to act in ways that challenge our values. MD is experienced by first responders in military conflicts, emergency services and healthcare workers (HCW). Prolonged exposure leads to burnout. Scales exist to measure MD in HCW. When COVID-19 was first detected in Victoria, Australia, Alfred Health Staff Wellness Survey was conducted to determine the impact of the pandemic on staff of a major public hospital.
