Abstract

Smoking has detrimental effects on lung health, especially in patients with chronic lung diseases. Recent studies have shown that CFTR mutation carriers that smoke are more likely to develop COPD. There is also evidence that smoking decreases CFTR function and interferes with the effectiveness of new CFTR modulators. The aim of the study was to determine how prevalent smoking is in parents of CF children and compare it to smoking prevalence in Greece.
