Abstract

Getting ready for puberty is a very challenging time and being an adolescent with Cystic Fibrosis (CF) brings additional challenges. Complex treatment plans and time-consuming therapies are implemented in the daily routines of teenagers. A key task for parents and the multidisciplinary health team is to prepare teenagers to learn the skills to manage their health as they prepare to transition to adult care. Studies have shown that self-management and self-care skills improve adherence to treatment and keep young people attending outpatient health care appointments.
