Abstract

The commonly used age-based dosing method for electroconvulsive therapy (ECT) does not account for possible sex differences. Some studies have suggested that ECT-induced volume change in the hippocampus is linked to memory side effects. It has also been reported that young women are at higher risk for side effects.
