Abstract
Adults with CF are at increased risk of low bone mineral density (BMD), with single-centre studies reporting up to 70% may have lower than expected BMD due to factors such as lung disease, cortico-steroid treatment, low body mass index (BMI), nutrient malabsorption, and insufficient weight bearing exercise. CF guidelines recommend screening patients using dual energy x-ray absorptiometry (DEXA) at specific intervals to enable identification and timely management of low BMD. This audit was conducted to assess bone health status of adults with CF at a UK centre.
