Abstract
In the laparoscopic Roux-en-Y gastric bypass (LRYGB), the ideal alimentary limb length is unknown. Controversy exists regarding whether various body mass index (BMI) ranges require different alimentary limb lengths for optimum weight loss results. At our institution, an 80 centimeter (CM) Roux-limb is created for both the super-obese (BMI ≥ 50 kg/m2) and non-super obese (BMI < 50 kg/m2) patients. We hypothesized that this approach will result in comparable weight loss results.
