Abstract

Psychiatric disorders are characterized by high levels of comorbidity. Both the severity of the psychiatric symptoms and the level of functional limitations (disability) are an indication of the impact of psychiatric disorders. In this study we aim to assess: 1) the impact of the number of psychiatric disorders on the level of functional limitations, 2) the association between various types of psychiatric comorbidity and functional limitations, and 3) whether the severity of psychiatric symptoms is an explanatory factor of the association between psychiatric comorbidity and functional limitations.
