Abstract

Genetic correlations across psychiatric disorders are abundant. This shared genetic variation can be captured by a multivariate genome-wide signature, also referred to as a “genomic P-factor”. Similarly, shared genetic influences on multiple cognitive traits can be described by a “genomic G-factor”. Recently, we derived two new genomic factors that efficiently describe two divergent genome-wide influences on human brain functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) during rest. Now we tested whether these general genomic factors, which so efficiently that capture inter-individual variation, reflect shared genetic underpinnings across psychopathology, cognition, and brain activation.
