Abstract

Hypersensitivity pneumonitis (HP) is a respiratory syndrome affecting the lung parenchyma due to a delayed allergic reaction. It is from repeated exposure of organic substances. The 2 most common types are Farmer's Lung and Bird Fancier's lung. If all 6 of the following diagnostic criteria are present the likelihood of HP is 98%; exposure to offending antigen, positive precipitating ab, recurrent episodes of symptoms, inspiratory crackles, symptoms 4-8 hours after exposure, weight loss.
