Abstract

Patients with lung cancer are often deconditioned and may have poor cardiopulmonary fitness (CPF). Lung resection surgery further reduces the CPF. To our knowledge, only four studies have assessed the exercise capacity after lung resection surgery using cardiopulmonary exercise test (CPET) and prescribed exercise intensity according to the measured VO2max. However, these studies used a cycle ergometer or combined exercise with resistance training. There has been no study to apply only treadmill training for pulmonary rehabilitation, the implementation of which was based on CPET-measured VO2max.
