Abstract

In a discovery study conducted on patients from Montpellier hospital, our group identified a panel of RNA editing-based blood biomarkers differentially modified in patients suffering from bipolar disorder (BD) as compared to unipolar depression (UN) . The combination of specific RNA biomarkers into an algorithm using a machine learning approach led to the development of a blood test that enabled to discriminate BD versus UN patient groups with an AUC>0.85. The aim of the present study was to confirm this result in an independent psychiatric cohort recruited in different clinical centers.
