Abstract

Cholinergic and cold urticaria are two distinct entities. Cholinergic urticaria, sometimes referred to as generalized heat urticaria, entails characteristic pin-point hives, precipitated by active or passive heating, whereas in cold urticaria, classical appearing hives are elicited by skin contact with cold environments. Cold-induced cholinergic urticaria is a rare subtype of urticaria, where the stereotypical pinpoint hives of cholinergic urticaria can be precipitated by cold exposure.
