Abstract

BACKGROUND CONTEXT: New treatments for degenerative disc disease will be aimed to improve biology. It is therefore important to be able to quantitatively measure disc hydration of the human disk in vivo. T2 relaxation times calculated from a multi-echo MRI acquisition may correlate with the water content of the disk.
