Abstract

AbstractImage sticking phenomena is one of the most important issues on LCD especially TVs, etc. It is well known image sticking is one of the display failure caused by the residual DC voltage. Analysis of the cause material of display failure on LCD, especially temporary defect, image sticking on LCD is very difficult, not reported about the cause material on real cells. Micro analysis methods such as infrared micro‐spectroscopy (μ ‐IR) and micro‐sampling mass spectrometry (μ ‐MS), provide deep insights of display defect, image sticking phenomena on LCD. In this paper, it is tried to analyze the cause material of the boundary image sticking on real cell dividing cross sectional direction, bulk liquid crystal (LC) layer, vicinity LC layer and interface LC/PI film layer, and investigated the mechanism of image sticking. It is supposed that aromatic carboxylic acid is condensed at boundary interface between liquid crystal and polyimide alignment film of CF side inducing residual DC voltage.
