Abstract
Childhood undernutrition is a global problem which is often aggravated by food insecurity, poverty, and illiteracy. Even when food is available, less literate child-caregivers in less developed communities often lack information about appropriate feeding behaviors and this often limits their ability to fully utilize the available food resources – hence puts their children at risk for undernutrition. The purpose of this Intervention was to test the effectiveness of using nutrition education as a tool to improve feeding behaviors and the nutritional status of children of low-income less literate rural mothers.
