Abstract

AbstractA method of correcting for the human eyes poor perception of red colors in cholesteric liquid crystal (ChLC) mixture is presented. The reflection of a band for ‘red’ ChLC mixtures is tuned around 600nm but it usually appears orange or even brown due to the eye seeing the shorter wavelength overtone bands more effectively. A technique to improve the perceived red color without lowering the stability of the liquid crystal mixture is presented. The method improves not only the red color but the entire RGB color triangle.
