Abstract

Introduction: Standardised, validated outcome reporting has taken centre stage as a key surgical, quality metric. These outcomes are benchmarked, drive service delivery and influence purchasing decisions. Relevant breast surgery outcomes reflect local disease control, patients’ quality of life and cosmesis. Patients’ dissatisfaction with cosmetic outcome is the principal proximate cause for medical litigation following breast surgery in the United Kingdom. There is a lack of objective, cosmetic outcome data following onco-plastic breast surgery.
