Abstract

Removal of large specimens from the thoracic cavity can be challenging. Traditionally most surgeons extract large specimens using a sac or a bag. We present a case of a 68 year old female with a 15cmx13cmx20cm mediastinal mass extending into the right hemithorax who underwent a median sternotomy. We were not able to extract and manipulate the specimen by usual means—it was successfully taken out using a Kiwi Complete Vacuum Delivery System (Kiwi Omnicup).
