Abstract

Atrial Fibrillation post cardiac surgery is associated with morbidity and long term sequalae. It is common post Cardiac surgery especially following valvular surgery. There is clear guidance from the National Institute of Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE) about management of patients to prevent and manage postoperative Atrial Fibrillation. "Unless contraindicated, offer a rhythm-control strategy as the initial management option for the treatment of postoperative atrial fibrillation following cardiothoracic surgery".
