Abstract

Currently many allergy researchers manually count and classify pollen types at designated stations across the continental United States. Over the past several years, researchers have been using Deep Learning Image Classification (DLIC) methods paired with high level hardware microscopes such as Scanning Electron Microscopes (SEM) or Optical Microscopes (OM) to automate the task of pollen counting and classification.
