Abstract

Introduction: With increasing awareness and introduction of screening, a larger number of breast lesions are impalpable at diagnosis. The gold standard technique is a wire guided excision (WGE), however a number of disadvantages have been identified. The Magseed marker is an alternative localisation method that has rectified some of these limitations. The aim of this study was to prospectively compare localisation accuracy and excision volumes in patients undergoing breast conservation surgery, for non-palpable lesions, in both Magseed and WGE groups.
