Abstract
This is a refreshingly modern textbook capable of being used by students, experienced practitioners as well as college tutors. As the title states the book focuses on manipulation, using high velocity low amplitude (HVLA) thrust techniques and defines an osteopathic perspective. The authors, both osteopaths residing in Australia, have attempted to present a comprehensive and concise textbook which can be used as a teaching and learning aid. The authors provide a wealth of up-to-date information concerning safety, a short section discusses the ‘osteopathic lesion or somatic dysfunction’ and there is also a good dissection of the work of Fryette, Lovett and others who have attempted to analyse the biomechanics of spinal motion.
