Abstract

Extragastrointestinal stromal tumors (EGISTs) are a special type of gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GISTs) that have similar pathologic characteristics but without any connection to the alimentary tract. Although EGISTs have been reported seemingly with more malignant behaviors by previous publications, the understanding of EGISTs still remains to be improved for its extremely rare prevalence. The aim of this study was to investigate the basic features of EGISTs and analyze the factors related to prognosis.
