Abstract

AbstractWe demonstrate the use of automatic optimization applied to the design of discotic compensation films for twisted nematic LCoS imagers. A least squares metric, adapted from optical lens design, is used to determine optimal design from a 4×4 simulation. The key to success is the proper choice of the merit function.
