Abstract
AbstractA high efficiency backlight for LCDs is proposed, in which p‐polarized light is preferentially out‐coupled by using the interface reflection of optical components. In our backlight the luminance for the p‐polarized light has improved by 30% or more compared to a conventional backlight and can be produced using conventional processes.
