Abstract

AbstractWe propose a new Address‐While‐Display driving method that is composed of an address period, sustain period and erase period only. Instead of the reset period, we used a new erase pulse waveform using a dual RMSP (Ramp biased Multiple Short Pulses). The dual RMSP erase pulse minimizes the wall charge difference between the ON and OFF cells by erasing the wall charge not only between the scan and sustain electrodes but also between the scan and address electrodes in the ON cells. When a thin MgO layer is coated on the phosphor layer, it enlarges the common operating voltage range in all color cells. As a result, 20V dynamic voltage margin and a real black image could be obtained.
