Abstract

We propose a new measurement scheme for angular characteristics of electronic holographic displays. Specifically, viewing angle and angular resolution are analyzed and quantitatively measured to evaluate the optical characterization and visual quality of holographic display. These angular substances play an essential role that constructs three‐dimensional volume images in space. In this work, we make a use of direction‐selective test pattern hologram to measure its contrast modulation of reconstructed holographic images from different angular direction views. Experimental results are provided to verify the feasibility of our proposed measurement method and to evaluate the objective performance of angular characteristics in holographic display.
