vulnerability to the rewarding effects of ethanol without affecting emotional or cognitive performance. Gene expression alterations in the mesocorticolimbic and HHA axis systems of defeated mice could be related with their higher ethanol consumption. These results suggest that pharmacological strategies modulating these systems deserve further exploration for the treatment of social defeat-related alcohol consumption problems.
